University Launches GPS Tracking App for Students

gps tracking appUniversity of Arkansas Little Rock is launching a GPS tracking app as another tool aimed at protecting students. The release coincides with the three year anniversary of UALR student Patricia Guardado’s disappearance and death.

Rave Guardian allows students (and staff) to set a timer while walking alone on campus and if the student doesn’t make it to their set location on time, an alarm will notify campus police. Students can also add other guardians to their list who will be able to see the student’s location and receive notifications in the event of an emergency.

Students can also include personal or medical information to be shared with emergency responders, share crime tips, and chat in real-time with campus security. The app is free and available on other university campuses across the country.
