Tracking System for Coast Guard Helicopters Launching in Canada

A new tracking system that monitor helicopters for the Canadian coast guard is being launched soon. The coast guard plans to install the helicopter tracking systems inside 22 aircraft and 17 ships, reported UPI.com.

The tracking system provides a comprehensive solution for real-time tracking of aircraft.

Absolute knowledge of the whereabouts of an aircraft is essential for the safety of the passengers and crew. This is particularly true in the event of an accident, where the immediate evacuation of injured people is critical.

Thales Canada has been selected to supply and install the new tracking system. Thales Canada said work on the project will be conducted with SkyTrac, a Canadian company that supplies FFS equipment for satellite-based FFS.

“This FFS project further reinforces our position as a premier electronic systems integrator for the Canadian coast guard,” said Paul Kahn, president and chief executive officer of Thales Canada.
