Surveillance Jewelry with GPS Tracking for Style and Safety

Most people associate GPS tracking bracelets with criminals, but a San Francisco company is smashing the stereotype by bringing jewelry with GPS tracking to consumers everywhere.

The company produces hair clips, bracelets, necklaces, and key chains that are as functional as they are fashionable. Each piece is embedded with GPS tracking and aimed at women looking for a little extra security.

The accessories send alerts, receive notifications, and can even track the user’s fitness activity. The biggest selling point, however, is that “at one press of a button, an SOS goes out to the people you designate as your protective circle when you need help,” according to designer Deepa Sood. Users can also “trigger a microphone” to be heard in real-time and sensors on the high-tech accessories can automatically detect physical assault and request help.

Accessories will hit stores in Fall 2014 and range from $35 to $110.
