Police Use GPS Tracking To Find Radio Shack Armed Robbery Suspect

Armed Robbery and Kidnapping Suspect Caught By GPS Tracking Equipment

Reported by ABC Chicago Local News

Chicago police say GPS technology foiled an armed robbery.

On Monday the police announced they had caught a man who stole $17,000 in merchandise from a Radio Shack by using GPS tracking equipment that was stolen from the store. The man had no idea when he took the equipment that it had GPS tracking capabilities that led police to his home.

The suspect is charged with armed robbery and kidnapping.

Law enforcement says the suspect entered the Radio Shack store, tied up people and threatened them with a gun, stole some gear (that was equipped with GPS tracking technology) and took off.

Police officers tracked down the suspect about two hours later. They found him by tracking stolen GPS equipment that he had in his possession.
