New GPS Tracking System Brings Indian Railways into 21st Century

A one-of-a-kind GPS tracking system has successfully been implemented in New Dehli. The GPS tracking system monitors the real-time movements of trains. Never again will riders have to stand outside in the rain or snow waiting for a train that is running late.

The tracking system allows passengers to check the status of train departures and arrivals, making it easy for riders to stay on schedule, plan their travel, and never miss a train again. The newly designed tracking system, which uses GPS satellites service, is expected to immensely overcome a lot of the limitations of the area’s current Train Running Information System.

Riders can access train information whenever, wherever, and however they want on a PC,  a cell phone or a telephone. This will be especially useful during times of bad weather.

The train tracking system, developed by the Research Design and Standards Organisation (RDSO), Lucknow and Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kanpur.
