Man Uses GPS Tracking to Catch Package Thief

A resident of Bowling Green, KY, conducted his own sting operation using a GPS tracking device. After a package was stolen off his front porch during Christmastime, the man set up a camera in the shrubs of his front yard and placed a decoy package on the porch with a GPS tracking device inside.

When the decoy package went missing from his porch, he reported the burglary to the police and explained that after the holiday theft he placed a GPS device inside a decoy box.  Police tracked the driver transporting the stolen package and found not only the decoy box, but other stolen packages as well.

The driver was a contract newspaper carrier and said while he delivered papers an accomplice would grab the packages. He identified his accomplice and was issued a citation charging him with receiving stolen property.
