BMW Showcasing Newest Fleet Member

During the BVLRA Fleet Technology Congress in July, BMW will showcase the newest member of its luxury fleet, the plug-in hybrid i8.

The futuristic vehicle features multiple cameras, autonomous emergency braking, as well as carbon fiber and aluminum construction. The i8 combines a 131-hp electric motor with a 231-hp gas engine to deliver 134.5 mpg, a top speed of 155 mph, and goes from 0-60 in just 4.2 seconds.

Gerry Keaney, BVRLA Chief Executive, said, “Rental and leasing companies will no doubt be keen to see the technology under the skin of this revolutionary sports car as it will gradually filter down and become standard on mainstream fleet cars in the coming years.”

For U.S. customers, the BMW i8 will have a base price of $135,700.
